A journey of a 1000 miles begins with the first step, okay sure but there are 5,280,000 feet in 1000 miles. How do you get it done?


You cannot win without discipline you will not achieve victory without discipline

Discipline sounds so negative like it’s a punishment,

The definition alone is really rather miserable, a quick Google search revealed: the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience.

Now that doesn’t seem to inspire greatness to me. Although I get what it take to reach a goal, it does not just take “the first step”

Everyone thinks that the first step will save the day, umm no. The journey of 1000 miles begins with the first step, ok sure you have to get started but there are 5,280,000 in 1000 miles.

Sure it starts with the first step but it also takes the 2nd 3rd steps over and over and over to get to the destination.

How many times do you think you are going to want to quit? What is going to get this done? Discipline. Not letting yourself stop going toward the thing that you know you want more than regret

It is not easy, for me discipline means you have force yourself to behave in a way your feelings don’t align with, for instance I like to eat chips, drink beer and watch action flicks, but instead I start working on this podcast.

Some say, and I believe it that 90% of success is just showing up, that’s discipline, keep showing up and doing your best you will be good at it… eventually

Whatever you want needs to become a habit something you work on each day, something you look forward to working on each day, that will help you develop new winning habits,

You can have only two things in this world, the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. Let’s say that one again, I stole that from somebody (I can’t remember who, it’s not mine)

Clearly pain is not an option here but the results are.

Things must get done in a systematic way, no matter how slowly, I have said it before little by little a little makes a lot.

Find an hour in your day to put energy into the hustle, whatever it is that you want to do. Yes you can find an hour; I will find an hour for you. I literally did my MBA in 8.5 months by finding a little more time. Now that sucked and I hardly spent time with the family. But its done now and no one can take it away from me!

Let’s add a word “self” Self-discipline is how you take care of yourself,. This is not a punishment you are respecting yourself, caring for yourself.

Not eating the food that was prepared with 3 sticks of butter is taking care of you, now I am not telling any one not to indulge but really 3 sticks of butter?

What else does self-discipline do, it makes you responsible to important things like managing deadlines, keep promise’s, it takes discipline

Where do i start, what do I do? What the critical part is getting things done.

Begin with something thing small for instance if you want to lose weight,

Just get up each and every day and go for a walk. Do not start worrying about buying something you don’t have to start with buying a solution. You have to change your behaviors first. Start with the walk each day, feel the air this will add to your success. Remember you have force yourself to behave in a way your feelings don’t align with.

Sure there are many things to consider but it starts building the discipline and it starts your success and you build on success, one after another,

After 30days, 60 days you created a pattern that is now a habit, then you add another one, and each new habit starts becoming more complex.

Start with wins no matter how small they build on your success. Little by little a little makes a lot

Guess what!?, you will have ups and downs, but it’s the downs that your most valuable growth takes place, that’s where the hard work takes place. That’s where everything really sucks at times but that’s when you learn what you’re made of

Anyone in the world can pat themselves on the back when the bills are pain money is being circulated, the kids are actually behaving, just look at anyone’s Facebook feeds..

True growth comes when you get knocked down, when you are hurting, when you feel alone. It is in these times that you learn what you are made of.

I heard Les Brown say we should be ashamed to die until we have made some contribution to mankind. X2

Make some goals set them high, and then dramatically increase them

Do not think about how this will get done, how this will happen is none of your business, but you need to dramatically increase those goals

The great human tragedy is that most people fail not because the aim to high and miss but aim too low and hit

Self-Discipline will get you there, not overnight but it will get you there,
