In Areosmiths song Dream On there is a line that says "you got to lose to know how to win"

 SHow notes:

I am sure you have heard the old adage, that to take the island, burn the boats. Disclaimer I am not telling you to quit your job, not until you are ready any way.

But, If you are not happy where you are, stop being comfortable there. We all get comfy sitting on our rusty tuff going to the ol J.O.B. coming home tired with no drive to change it.

Why because deep down we know growth is going to be very uncomfortable. Even scary. But do ya know what’s even more scary than going to the same job making you miserable for the rest of your life? The inevitability of knowing that you will endure the haunting pain of regret if you do not even try to go after what you want, that’s scary

What are you afraid of? Afraid of being embarrassed? Not being good enough?

What if being afraid was the acid test, what is fear is how you know the goal is worthwhile? if your goals or dream trigger fear then that is the direction you should move.

If you are not the least bit afraid to do something then you are not swinging for the fences, you are not aiming high enough. You are not playing to your potential; you are not playing on the right field. You are playing it too darn safe.

I have two boys Rox is about to be 8, Oz just recently turned 6, if I challenged them to a running race, I would win (at least  right now I would win) why they are a fraction of my size. is that what you are doing? Are you playing on a small field so you can feel successful? You need to be running with a heard of people that are going to push you harder than you ever expected. You need to run with the next level, you need to get your teeth kicked in once in a while to get better than you are now. It should hurt to keep up

In the old Aerosmith song dream on, there is a line that states “you got to lose to know how to win” let’s just soak that up (repeat)

Losing and failure are lessons for the winners, the more fear you face, the more loosing you do the closer you get to winning.

You will never grow if you are not challenged and your brain has been trained to put you on auto pilot, you only get engaged when you are faced with a challenge. You need to put yourself in that challenge.

The next level is waiting, but you have to be the one to push yourself to get there. The rest of the word is just fine with you playing small, staying out of the way not making waves.

The fear you are feeling needs to be used to manufacture bravery; your fear needs to work for you. Use your fear like a compass ride into the storm yes you will get a bit wet, that’s when you dance in the rain baby!

Other people need you to shine, to light the way with your unique light. Your success, your experience will leave a trail of clues for other to follow.

Then there is the voice in your head that will sneak up on you and say something like, Who are you to shine, who are you to do this, who are you to do that? Let me tell you this, If you can do ANYTHING that will help at least one other person shine you need to do it.

When you hear that voice you need to ask, Who are you not to use the gifts you have been given? Who do you think you are not share your unique talents with the world?

Head into your fear, share your gifts with the world so other may benefit from you.
